The Integrated Teacher Education Programme is a four year dual-degree programme designed by national Council for Teacher Education. It aims to revolutionize teacher education in India by integrating subject knowledge with pedagogical training from the undergraduate level.
The main objectives behind introducing this programme is to prepare competent, committed and professional school teachers; to integrate academic knowledge with practical teaching skill and to reduce fragmentation in teacher education.
It is a four year dual degree programme. a student after completion of 10+2 level can apply for the programme. The course content combines general education with teacher education and training. The main advantage behind introducing this programme is to save one academic year compared to traditional B.Ed after graduation. It ensures early professional orientation along with building strong subject foundations and pedagogical skills.This programme also enhances employability and teaching effectiveness.
